Are You a Standard Body Shape?

Although "standard" is not a shape per se, most women with this body shape like to think of themselves as standard, or average.

If you have a Standard Body Shape you:

  • have shoulders and hips that are the same width
  • have a waist comes in slightly (but is not as defined as the hourglass)
  • often feel like you have an "average" body shape with no extremes
  • tend to gain weight evenly all over your body
  • sometimes have a hard time defining your style because many clothes look good on you, so it can feel like there is too much choice

Style Tips for the Standard Body Shape:

  • you will feel comfortable in form-fitting clothes - this does not necessarily mean tight
  • make sure you consider your personality when buying clothes... just because something looks good on your figure does not necessarily mean it needs to be in your closet
  • pay attention that the clothes you are wearing are not throwing your proportions off and changing your shape into one you don't want
  • your body will look slimmest when you choose pieces that bring attention to, and define, your waist
  • extremes are not your thing, so don't feel like you need to wear any trendy pieces that don't feel like you

Clothing and Accessories that will be easiest for you to wear:

  • you tend to feel comfortable in classic pieces like collared shirts
  • straight-leg jeans will be the easiest for you to wear, although depending on your personality you may choose to go for a skinny or boot-cut jean, which look great too
  • look for clothes that are already balanced - like a shift dress - which are the easiest pieces for you to wear
  • a belt around your waist will create a curvier shape if you would like
  • blazers, with a slightly defined waist, will be an awesome piece for you to have in your closet to pair with jeans, and create a fabulous casual chic look

Look for an outfit that will flatter a standard figure coming at the end of the week!

If this shape doesn't sound like you, one of these other body shapes might feel more relatable: Circle, Triangle, Inverted Triangle, Hourglass, or Rectangle.
