Effortless Spring Style Boosts: Hourglass Body Shape

May 5, 2014 by Wendy Woods Leave a Comment

effortless spring style updates for hourglass body shape

When I first met my husband Chris, he showed up at my house one day with “Some Like It Hot”.  Until then, I had never seen a Marilyn Monroe movie.

He’s a movie kind of guy, so I think this news shocked him.

I knew Marilyn Monroe as an iconic sex symbol, but truthfully I didn’t understand the hype… until I saw her on screen.

Marilyn embodied femininity, and her curvy hourglass figure became the most iconic female body shape because of it.

You don’t need to be as voluptuous as Marilyn to have an hourglass figure, but in my experience if you have this body shape you will likely embrace your femininitylike she did.

If you have an
hourglass body shape, these three options might be the right-for-you style updates this season.

 1. Mesh

Mesh shows off the curves of an hourglass figure without being tight, so it’s nice choice for casual wear paired with sexy jeans, and a form-fitting tank.

… but you could also wear it to-and-from the gym over your workout gear to spruce things up.

… or you could toss it on with a pair of leggings for a summer evening at the cottage.

 2. Over-the-Knee Print Dress

This dress is a perfect summer work staple that will highlight your feminine curves and still be appropriate for the office.  Worn with simple accessories, the dress (and you!) speaks for itself.

… you could also make this outfit more business professional by wearing a curvy black blazer with it.

…. or wear to an after work event with higher heels, a glitzy earring and sparkling bracelet (all easy to stow in your office drawer for when you need them).

 3. Waist Belt

… although, it would be just as great worn to cinch in a flowing white shirt over distressed jeans.

… or worn as an edgy detail on a conservative work dress.

This article is part of a spring style update series.  You can see spring and summer style ideas for other body shapes here:
